During the late 1800s, the Jersey cow played a huge role in the westward movement across America. In many cases, the cow trekking along behind the Conestoga wagon was critical to the very survival of the family.
While creating a commission for Blue Bell Creamery in 2006, of a little country girl leading a Jersey cow, I saw many compositions in addition to their brilliant logo. My model for the “little country girl” grew 6 inches in one year and became a young woman. The far away look of a teenage girl is as timeless as the Jersey Cow itself. She is no longer intent on her daily chores, but is often found “Daydreaming” about the future.
