The Bronc Installation

“The Bronc”

Monument –  25% over life-size
9’H x 8”L x 3’W

The 1 1/4 life sized version of “The Bronc” was placed at the University of Texas, Pan Am division, in Edinburg, Texas in 2002. This largely Hispanic university has a bucking horse for their logo. Since the horse was one of Spain’s greatest contributions to America, I recognized this gift by using a Spanish Mustang stallion for the model. The magnificent horse, named Tarkio, served as my model. I observed slow-motion videos of bronc riders in motion to capture the movement in this sculpture.
